The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (furlough scheme) was put in place to support employers who are not able to operate as normal due to the pandemic. “To claim the fifth SEISS grant, most customers need to tell us about their turnover for a 12-month period between April 2020 and April 2021, and their turnover for a previous year. You do not need to tell us this information because you did not submit a tax return for your business between 2016-17 and 2018-19.Provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be able to claim the higher grant, worth 80% of three months’ average trading profits.

What happens next
From mid-July, we will contact customers who may be eligible for the fifth grant to tell them their personal claim date. Eligible customers can apply anytime from their personal claim date until 30 September 2021. The online claims service will open from late July.”
